Between the Boundary and the Wall
There is a difference
between a door you close with purpose
and a wall you build at midnight
when the fear gets loud.
Both feel like shelter.
Both look like strength from the outside.
But one lets the light in at the edges,
and one does not.
I know you're tired.
I know you're tired — of holding things together
that were never all yours to hold,
of shrinking into shapes that fit everyone else's room,
of saying yes
with your mouth full of no.
And so when the shift comes —
and it comes, it always comes —
and suddenly you find yourself standing at the threshold
of everything you used to tolerate,
saying
not this time,
not anymore,
not me —
that is not a small thing.
That is not nothing.
That is a woman coming back to herself
after a very long journey.
Honour it.
But
stay honest with yourself
in the quiet.
Ask the question nobody wants to ask:
Is this a door I'm closing
so I can breathe,
and open it again
when I'm ready?
Or is this a wall
I'm calling a boundary
because the bricks feel safer
than the conversation?
You will know the difference.
The body always does.
A boundary feels like
exhaling.
A wall feels like holding your breath
and calling it peace.
There are things worth the room they take.
There are conversations you haven't finished yet,
relationships that need
your honest voice more than your graceful exit,
parts of you that won't grow
until you stay in the room long enough
to be changed by it.
And yes —
some things are genuinely done.
Some doors are right to close.
Some seasons simply end,
and the kindest thing is to let them.
The wisdom
is in knowing which is which.
And you are building that wisdom
right now,
today,
in the middle of all this upheaval —
you are learning the difference
between retreat and return.
Between hiding and rest.
Between the wall that keeps you small
and the boundary that makes you free.
This is the work.
Not the easy kind.
Not the kind that fits on a label
or arrives with a protocol.
The kind that asks you,
every time,
to be more honest
than you were yesterday.
To stay curious
about your own motives.
To be as brave
going in
as you are going out.
You are not here to need less.
You are here to need the right things —
deliberately,
fully,
without apology.
And the woman who knows the difference
between a boundary and a wall,
between protection and avoidance,
between closing a door with love
and building a fortress out of fear —
that woman is not lost.
She is re-calibrating.
She is finding her frequency.
She is, against all odds
and in the middle of everything,
becoming
more herself.
Not less. More.
Not smaller. Clearer.
Not hiding.
Today.
